The techniques of collecting data are document analysis, questionnaire, and focus group discussion. The data are taboo words that have been validated by validator and the information about translation quality given by raters. Informants are validator and three raters. The documents are The Wolf of Wall Street movie and its two subtitle versions. The sources of data consist of documents and informants selected with purposive sampling technique. In addition to that, it is embedded case study. The research method applied is descriptive qualitative. The aims of this research are to describe: (1) form and classification of taboo words found in The Wolf of Wall Street movie, (2) the translation techniques used for translating taboo word in The Wolf of Wall Street movie and its two subtitle version, (3) the translation quality of taboo words translations in VCD and amateur subtitles of The Wolf of Wall Street movie, (4) the impact of translation techniques toward the quality of taboo words translations in VCD and amateur subtitles of The Wolf of Wall Street movie. P>This research is conducted by analyzing taboo words in The Wolf of Wall Street movie and its two subtitle versions. Meanwhile, the impact of censorship on the quality of translation shows that most of the data is inaccurate, acceptable, and has high legibility. The translators choose to delete or reduce because of four things, namely swearing words, emphasized, sexual references, and repetitions. The results also showed that most of the data was censor because of self-censorship. The result shows that censorship was carried out by translators because of two main causes, namely self-censorship and translator's capacity. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a fixed case study form. The aims of this research are finding words, phrases, and sentences that censored, factors causing censorship and the impact of censorship on the quality of translation. Censorship carried out by deleting and reducing words, phrases, or sentences in subtitles. Cultural differences make translators censor some parts that considered as taboo, abusive, and inappropriate in the culture of the target language.
